2.2.1 Harnessing the River โ
๐ Summary โ
Two ultra-short-throw projectors fill the exhibit surface with a cohesive animated narrative about why the Colorado River was harnessed and the need for Hoover Dam. Audio is focused to the viewing area with an induction loop for accessibility.

๐๏ธ Controls โ

๐ ๏ธ Operation โ
- The system will come on automatically based on a global schedule, or you can override it using the control tablet.
- Verify the 7thSense server playback and confirm both projectors display the content.
- Check audio coverage at the viewing area and adjust volume as needed.
- If a source needs to be changed, use DeltaGUI, located on the Admin PC in the rack.
- End of day: projectors and server power down via the global schedule.
๐งฐ Maintenance โ
- If content fails to play, restart Harnessing the River via the control tablet.
- If no image is present, verify the HDBaseT link, projector input, and network connectivity.
- Periodically clean the projector filters and confirm loop driver status.
โ๏ธ Configuration โ
Applications Used โ
- 7thSense Delta GUI / Web UI: content management and playback control on the media server.
- Epson Projector Professional Tool (EPPT): projector power, input, geometry, and status.
- Q-SYS Designer: audio source, routing, level, and scheduling on the Q-SYS Core.
Connection Details โ
- Epson Projector (PRJ01-01): 10.10.0.30
- Epson Projector (PRJ01-02): 10.10.0.31
- 7thSense Proton (DVP03-01): 10.10.0.32
- Q-SYS Core (CTL01-01): 10.10.0.2 (LAN-A) / 10.10.0.3 (LAN-B)
- Pendant speakers are driven by the shared QSC CX-Q4K8 network amplifier (AMP01-01): 10.10.0.10 (LAN-A) / 10.10.0.11 (LAN-B)
Updating Media โ
- Connect to the 7thSense Proton using Delta GUI.
- Load the updated assets and publish to the timeline.
- Verify playback on both projectors and save the show file to backups.
Adjusting Wall Geometry โ
- Use EPPT for automated geometry tools and precision alignment.
- Fine-tune alignment around hard edges on the 7thSense via DeltaGUI.
- Re-verify focus and alignment after any projector service.
๐ง Troubleshooting โ
The exhibit keeps playing after closing timeDVP03-01 ยท 10.10.0.32
Why
After a power loss the 7thSense media server (DVP03-01, 10.10.0.32) can cold-boot before its network adapter is ready, so its playback software binds to the machine's internal address instead of the network. The server runs and plays, but the Q-SYS Core cannot reach it to send the scheduled stop. A Core-level audio failsafe already mutes this server's audio outside scheduled hours, so the gallery stays quiet while control is restored.
Do this
- Confirm the current time is actually outside scheduled hours. Most exhibits run 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Perform a normal restart of the media server (DVP03-01, 10.10.0.32). Do not factory reset. Allow it to fully boot; a warm restart brings the playback software back on the correct network address.
- After it finishes starting, turn the exhibit off and back on from the control tablet and confirm it follows the command.
Still stuck
If the exhibit still does not respond after one restart, contact support. Do not repeat the restart more than once; a repeated failure needs remote diagnosis.
At morning startup the image comes up in the wrong orientation, warped, or half-sizeDVP03-01 ยท 10.10.0.32
Why
The media server did not shut down cleanly the night before and came up in a stale state. This is startup sequencing, not failed hardware, and shares a root cause with the condition above.
Do this
- Reboot Harnessing the River from the control tablet.
- Allow the source a full minute to start.
- If the image is still wrong, reboot a second time. Two reboots have historically mapped it correctly.
Still stuck
If it does not clear after two reboots, or recurs every morning, note the exhibit and time and contact support.
If the first action does not resolve it, contact the KMI AV support team: Brian Alexander, 214-799-1850, Brian.Alexander@OnyxIntegrations.com.
