🎛️ Controls

Controls

🛠️ Operation

  1. The system comes on automatically on the global schedule (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM), or you can override it from the control tablet.
  2. As a visitor approaches, the motion sensor triggers the vignette, playing the Jimmy character audio through the ceiling speakers with video on the display.
  3. Verify video and audio playback, and confirm the proximity sensor is detecting movement and triggering the video.

🧰 Maintenance

  • Verify the motion sensor is detecting approach and triggering playback. If playback does not start on approach, check the sensor and its wiring.
  • Confirm both ceiling speakers are producing the Jimmy character audio at a normal level.
  • If the display is blank while powered, reboot the exhibit media source from the tablet.
  • Check the display mount and adapter bracket security periodically.

⚙️ Configuration

Applications Used

  • Samsung display web UI / MDC - Used to check and set display power, input, and status.
  • Synaccess netBooter web UI - Used to power-cycle the exhibit devices through the NP-02B IP PDU.
  • Phidget control panel - Used to verify the SBC3003 single-board computer and the motion-sensor input.

Connection Details

  • Samsung QM98T-B display (DISP03-05): 10.10.0.90 (Samsung MDC, TCP 1515)
  • BrightSign player (DVP02-02): 10.10.0.91 (web UI at http://10.10.0.91)

Playback is driven by the BrightSign player DVP02-02. (The original equipment list showed an Intel media computer; the BrightSign is what is installed.)

🔧 Troubleshooting

The display is powered and on, but the exhibit video is blank

Why

The media player feeding the exhibit has stopped outputting. This was restored by a remote player reboot in the confirmed case (2026-05-06).

Do this

  1. Confirm the display is on and receiving power.
  2. Reboot the exhibit media source from the control tablet and give the player time to restart.

Still stuck

If a reboot does not restore video, contact support. A remote reboot of the specific player has resolved this before.

Playback does not start when a visitor approaches

Why

The motion sensor is not triggering, or its wiring needs checking.

Do this

  1. Confirm the display and audio are otherwise working.
  2. Check that the motion sensor is detecting approach; note if it is not.

Still stuck

Report a sensor that does not trigger playback.

If the first action does not resolve it, contact the KMI AV support team: Brian Alexander, 214-799-1850, Brian.Alexander@OnyxIntegrations.com.
